Overview

Below is a listing of commonly asked questions and basic troubleshooting steps for tablet press machines.



Excess material in frame spilling over scraper into die.


  1. Lower pin grid feeder gate or reduce speed of paddle wheel feeder.
  2. Check for bent feed frame.
  3. Re-level feed frame.
  4. Lower feed chute to allow material to flow more slowly.



Insufficient material being fed to dies.


  1. Raise feed chute to allow material to flow more liberally.
  2. Remove any large granules or broken tablets from feed frame which may be impeding material flow.
  3. Raise pin grid feeder gate or increase speed of paddle wheel feeder.



Lower punches sticking.


  1. Clean punches and sockets more frequently.
  2. Check for material build up around punch tips.



Variations in punch lengths.


  1. Keep punches in complete sets with similar overall lengths.
  2. Rework sets of punches together.



Worn scraper edge.


  1. Redress scraper. Place new edge on scraper.
  2. Replace scraper.
